Mizraim (Hebrew: מִצְרַיִם / מִצְרָיִם, Modern Mitzráyim Tiberian Miṣrāyim / Miṣráyim ; cf. Arabic مصر, Miṣr) is the Hebrew name for the land of Egypt, with the dual suffix -āyim, perhaps referring to the "two Egypts": Upper Egypt and Lower Egypt.. Ugaritic inscriptions refer to Egypt as Msrm, in the Amarna tablets it is called Misri, and Assyrian and Babylonian. Mizraim "The dual form of matzor, meaning a "mound" or "fortress," the" "name of a people descended from Ham (Gen. , 13; 1 Chr. ," 11). The second son of Ham (Gen; 1Chr) is associated with NE Africa, possibly along with his brothers, Cush and of the descendants of Mizraim (GenGen; 1ChrChr) probably are also to be linked with this usual Hebrew word for “Egypt” and always so translated in the RSV. Person Mizraim is a son of Ham, the son of Noah. He was the younger brother of Cush and elder brother of Phut and Canaan. His children were Ludim, Anamim, Lehabim, Naphtuhim, Pathrusim, Casluhim (out of whom came Philistim) and Caphtorim. He was the ancestor of the Hamites in .

The name Mizraim means "the two straits", referring to the dynastic separation of upper and lower Egypt or "the two Mazors", i.e. walls of fortifications. On the border with Asia, Egypt had a chain of these forts. It was the Canaanites who called them "Shar" or "the wall". And when the inhabitants of the land, the Canaanites, saw the mourning in the floor of Atad, they said, This is a grievous mourning to the Egyptians: wherefore the name of it was called Abel-mizraim, which is beyond the Jordan.

Mizraim’s father, Ham, had the actual experience of sailing in Noah’s ark during the world flood. While Pangaea was still united during the dispersion of man from the tower of Babel, Mizraim accompanied his father to the continent of Africa where Ham erected a government that became known for its wisdom.
